Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Salty and sweet. The combination of buttery crackers, crispy bacon, and caramelized sugar is irresistible.
  • Easy to make. Quick to make for a simple appetizer.
  • Always a hit! This is one of those appetizers that always goes fast. I recommend making 2 batches.

Ingredients

You only need a few simple ingredients you might already have in your kitchen.

  • Crackers – I prefer using Club crackers but you could also use Ritz crackers.
  • Bacon – Make sure to use thin slices of bacon. Thick bacon won’t fully cook.
  • Brown sugar – Light brown sugar adds a delicious sweetness to the dish.
  • Ground black pepper – A little pepper adds some seasoning.

How to make bacon crackers

Step one: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a cooling rack on the foil.

Step two: Cut the bacon into pieces that will fit on the cracker. Usually one slice of bacon can cover 2-3 crackers. Place crackers on the cooling rack. Top the crackers with the bacon.

Step three: Sprinkle the brown sugar on top of the bacon and then add the ground black pepper.

Recipe tips and variations

  • It’s best if you use a cooling rack to help prevent the crackers from sticking to the foil.
  • Want to add a little spiciness? Sprinkle with red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne pepper.

How to store

Store: Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. You can warm them up in the microwave or the oven.
