These baked BBQ sausage bites are one of my go-to appetizers and it all started with a game day gathering several years ago. I was scrambling to throw together a few snacks before everyone arrived and spotted some kielbasa in the fridge. I decided to slice it up, toss it with a BBQ sauce, and threw it in the oven.

When the first batch came out the house smelled so good and everyone loved them! The bbq kielbasa disappeared fast, I even had to make a second batch.

Now when a game is on or we are having people over to hang out, I make these easy bbq bites. They are so simple to make, delicious, and always a hit.

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Stir half way through baking. I recommend giving the sausages a stir halfway through the baking time. This helps them cook evenly.
  • Slice in similar size pieces. Make sure to cut your sausage in similar size pieces for even cooking.

Variations

  • BBQ sauce: Try using different BBQ sauce flavors like honey, spicy, or Hawaiian style.
  • Sausage: You can use your favorite precooked sausage like kielbasa, turkey kielbasa, or even Little Smokies.
  • Vegetables: You can add in some diced vegetables like bell peppers, onions, or even pineapple. When doing this, I like to serve over rice for a full meal.
  • Add more smoky flavor: If you really want a punch of smoky flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the BBQ sauce.
