Why we love this delicious cream cheese dip

  • Contrasting textures: This BLT dip is both creamy and chunky from the textures of ingredients such as shredded lettuce, crispy bacon, and sliced tomatoes.
  • Super easy: With just two simple steps and minimal ingredients, you can whip up this dip within 5 minutes!
  • Serve any time: Enjoy this delicious dip as a family snack, as a perfect party dip, or for other social gatherings – it’s suitable for all occasions.

Ingredients needed

  • Bacon – Cook your bacon the night before for quick and easy assembling.
  • Tomatoes – Cherry or grape tomatoes work well for this dip.
  • Lettuce – Iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, or butterhead lettuce.
  • Green onion – Diced green onions add delicious flavor and color.
  • Cheddar cheese – Use freshly grated cheese for best flavor.
  • Cream cheese – Bring the cream cheese to room temperature for easy mixing. Full-fat or reduced-fat cream cheese can be used.
  • Sour cream – Full-fat sour cream or low-fat sour cream can be used.
  • Ranch seasonings – Add some paprika or cayenne pepper for a kick of heat if you wish.

Recipe variations

  • Reduce the fat content in this BLT dip but using low-fat cream cheese and low-fat sour cream.
  • The crispy bacon can be replaced with bacon bits, turkey bacon, ground sausage, or shredded chicken.
  • Add a kick of heat to this dip by including cayenne pepper or paprika to the mixture.
  • If you don’t enjoy sour cream, substitute with mayonnaise, Miracle Whip, or Greek yogurt instead.

How to serve

This BLT dip can be enjoyed alongside a platter of pretzels, salty crackers, corn chips, tortilla chips, toasted bruschetta bread, baguette slices, or sliced raw veggies.

How to store leftovers

Leftover BLT dip must be stored in the fridge due to the dairy-based ingredients. Cover the top of the dip bowl tightly with plastic wrap or transfer the remaining dip into an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 3-5 days.

Any toppings that are susceptible to wilting or getting soggy (such as the lettuce and
tomatoes) should be removed when storing this dip.

I don’t recommend freezing this BLT dip as the texture of the dip can change.

Recipe tips

  • Allow ingredients such as cream cheese to sit out at room temperature to soften for a smoother consistency. If you’ve forgotten to do this in time, unwrap the block of cream cheese and add it to a small bowl. Place hot water in a larger bowl and add the smaller bowl to it, similar to a double boiler. This will soften the cream cheese faster. Alternatively, microwave the unwrapped cream cheese for a few seconds at a time, making sure you don’t melt it.
  • You can prepare ingredients such as the crispy bacon and grated cheese a day in advance and store them in separate airtight containers. I recommend only preparing the salad ingredients just before assembling the dip for best texture.
  • This dip will naturally thicken in the fridge when stored. It won’t affect the taste but you can add more mayonnaise, a splash of milk, or some Greek yogurt to loosen it if you wish.
  • Don’t allow this BLT dip to sit out at room temperature for an extended time as the creamy ingredients can start to spoil.
