Butter toffee pretzels are the sweet and salty treat you didn’t know you needed. Crunchy pretzels are coated in a glaze and topped with toffee chips and chopped pecans. You won’t be able to resist these pretzels!

The first time I made these butter toffee pretzels they turned out even better than I could have imagined. Crunchy pretzels get coated in a homemade caramel sauce that’s rich, buttery, and sweet. I top them with toffee bits and chopped pecans for a little something extra. What can be better than that?

These pretzels have quickly become a holiday favorite. I will typically make several batches to give away to family and friends for a simple and easy homemade gift.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Simple to prepare. You can make these with just a few ingredients.
  • Flavor. The combination of sweet and salty makes these pretzels hard to resist.
  • Versatile. These can be served as a stand alone snack. You can also use them to add to a snack mix or even to top ice cream.

Ingredients

  • Pretzels– You can use mini pretzels or snaps shaped pretzels.
  • Light brown sugar – I like using light brown sugar for this recipe.
  • Butter – Unsalted butter is used.
  • Light corn syrup – This is used to make the sugar mixture.
  • Baking soda – Baking soda lightens up the mixture and helps to make it softer.
  • Vanilla extract – Adds some sweetness.
  • Heath Toffee Bits
  • Pecans – Chopped pecans are optional. I like the extra bit of crunch they add.

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Use fresh pretzels. It’s important to use fresh, not stale pretzels to make this recipe.
  • Watch the homemade caramel. Be sure not to make the caramel sauce on high heat. You want the heat to be on medium and constantly stir so that it doesn’t burn.
  • Add the toppings quickly. Make sure to immediately sprinkle the toffee chips and pecans over the pretzels as soon as you put them on the baking sheet.

Storage

Keep any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
