My favorite way to make Checkers fries in the air fryer is fast and easy. They taste just like the famous restaurant fries and pair perfectly with a variety of dishes. After lots of testing, I found the perfect time and temperature to cook these frozen fries.
Frozen Checkers Famous Fries in the air fryer
Frozen french fries were the first thing I made when I bought an air fryer many years ago. Since then, the air fryer has become my favorite way to cook frozen food, especially things like these Checkers or Rallys’s fries.
The air fryer cooks by circulating hot air around the fries. This helps them come out perfect every time and taste like they just came out of the fryer, without any extra oil.
After making these over and over, and some family taste testing, I found that the best temperature to cook frozen Checkers fries is at 400 degrees for about 14 minutes.
No extra oil, no preheating, no oven, these really are so easy to make!
You can make other frozen fries using similar time and temperature like Arby’s frozen curly fries, waffle fries, and steak fries.
How to cook Checkers fries in the air fryer
All you need is a bag of frozen Checkers Famous Seasoned Fries, also called Rally’s fries. You should be able to find them at most stores in the frozen french fry aisle.
Step one: Place frozen french fries in an air fryer basket. I usually cook about 1/2 the bag at a time.
Step two: Air fry at 400 degrees F for 7 minutes. Next, shake the basket or flip over the fries and cook for another 7-8 minutes at 400 degrees.
Step three: Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Heather’s recipe tips
- Try and spread out the french fries in the basket. You don’t want to crowd the fries in the air fryer.
- Depending on the type of air fryer you are using, I am using a 5.8 quart, you will need to cook the fries in 2 batches to make the whole bag.
- Don’t skip shaking or flipping the fries half way through the cook time. This will help ensure crispy Checkers fries.
- Every air fryer cooks a little different. Check the fries halfway through cooking when you shake them. You can adjust the cook time for your taste.
What to serve with air fryer Checkers fries
These seasoned fries are a wonderful side dish for many things like an air fryer grilled cheese sandwich, popcorn chicken, chicken tenders, hamburgers, and so much more.
I also like to serve them with dipping sauces for extra flavor. A few of my absolute favorite include:
- Copycat Zax sauce
- Copycat Zesty sauce
- Copycat Red ranch
- Sweet potato fries dipping sauce
- Copycat Campfire sauce
