I can make a meal out of a dip. Give me a good bowl of dip with some crackers and veggies and I’m happy.

This million dollar crack dip is one of those dips that has it all when it comes to texture and flavor. It’s one of my absolute favorite cream cheese dips to bring to parties. In fact, I will typically double the recipe so I can take some to the party and keep some at home for myself.

Not only is this dip a favorite of mine but also the Food Lovin’ Family community. It’s been made by thousands of readers with rave reviews.

If you are in need of other party dips, I also love spinach dip, sausage and beer cheese dip, and dill pickle dip.

Why you’ll love this easy crack dip

  • It can be made quick and easy. A great last minute, no fuss appetizer.
  • The taste is so good! Salty, creamy, cheesy, all the things that make the perfect dip.
  • A wonderful make-ahead dip that is great for a crowd at parties and holidays.

What is million dollar crack dip?

Maybe you have heard of other recipes like crack chicken or this dip. I did not name this recipe and I’m not sure where the name came from, but it typically refers to a mixture of ranch seasoning, cheese, and bacon. This recipe can also be referred to as Million Dollar Dip.

Crack dip ingredients

This is an easy dip recipe with few ingredients that comes together for amazing flavor.

  • Cream cheese – Make sure that the cream cheese is softened. This helps to achieve a creamy, soft dip.
  • Sour cream – Adds a little tang to the dip. You can use full fat or light sour cream.
  • Bacon – I prefer using cooked, chopped bacon. You can also use bacon bits.
  • Ranch seasoning – This is the key ingredient to this amazing dip. Use pre-packaged or homemade ranch seasoning.
  • Green onion – Adds nice color and texture.
  • Shredded cheese – I like using cheddar cheese but you can substitute with Colby Jack or Monterey Jack.
  • Seasoned salt – This adds a little extra kick of flavor. If you want to cut back on the sodium, you can leave this out.

How to serve crack dip with cream cheese

There are many different things you can use to scoop up this delicious dip. A few of my favorites include:

  • Crackers: Butter crackers, Saltine crackers, wheat crackers, and more.
  • Vegetables: Use your favorite cut up vegetables like celery sticks, carrot sticks, cucumber, bell peppers, and more.
  • Chips: Fritos and potato chips work well.
  • Other: This recipe can also be used as a spread on a tortilla to make a pinwheel appetizer.

Crack dip variations

This dip is easy to change up by adding different ingredients.

  • Protein: Try adding in cooked sausage, cooked ground beef, or shredded chicken.
  • Heat: Spice up your dip by including diced jalapenos or a splash of hot sauce.
  • Cheese: You can substitute cheddar cheese with things like pepper jack, Mexican blend, Monterey Jack, and more.
  • Warm: This dip can be served warm. Spread the dip in a baking dish and place in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 15 minutes.

How long can you leave out this party dip?

Since the dip is made with perishable ingredients, it should not sit out at room temperature for more than 2-3 hours. If this dip is served already chilled, 3 hours would be the maximum time.

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Make sure to let the cream cheese soften before mixing. I usually set it out on the counter 30 minutes before making.
  • I love using cooked, crumbled bacon or even turkey bacon. Bacon bits will also work if you are in a hurry.
  • If this dip has been refrigerated, you might consider setting it out 20-30 minutes before serving so the cream cheese softens, making it easier to dip.
  • The recipe can easily be doubled for a large crowd.

How to store leftovers

Keep any leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Make sure to give it a stir before serving.

This dip does not freeze well. The cream cheese doesn’t hold it’s consistency once it has thawed.

  1. This recipe was delicious and easy!!! Instead of seasoning salt though I added Cajun seasoning and Spicy Ranch seasoning.

  2. This Crack Dip was delicious. I did, however, have to make it twice. The first time I made it, the next morning I felt like I was drinking directly from a salt shaker. My recommendation is use home cooked bacon. Real Bacon Bits are preserved with so much salt and then the recipe calls for salt as well. I absolutely love salt but this was way too much. The second time I made it, the same morning, I cooked and chopped the bacon and I didn’t add the salt the recipe called for. With the ranch dressing mix and the salt in the bacon it was perfect.
