What is million dollar crack dip?
Maybe you have heard of other recipes like crack chicken or this dip. I did not name this recipe and I’m not sure where the name came from, but it typically refers to a mixture of ranch seasoning, cheese, and bacon. This recipe can also be referred to as Million Dollar Dip.
Crack dip ingredients
This is an easy dip recipe with few ingredients that comes together for amazing flavor.
- Cream cheese – Make sure that the cream cheese is softened. This helps to achieve a creamy, soft dip.
- Sour cream – Adds a little tang to the dip. You can use full fat or light sour cream.
- Bacon – I prefer using cooked, chopped bacon. You can also use bacon bits.
- Ranch seasoning – This is the key ingredient to this amazing dip. Use pre-packaged or homemade ranch seasoning.
- Green onion – Adds nice color and texture.
- Shredded cheese – I like using cheddar cheese but you can substitute with Colby Jack or Monterey Jack.
- Seasoned salt – This adds a little extra kick of flavor. If you want to cut back on the sodium, you can leave this out.

This dip is easy to change up by adding different ingredients.
- Protein: Try adding in cooked sausage, cooked ground beef, or shredded chicken.
- Heat: Spice up your dip by including diced jalapenos or a splash of hot sauce.
- Cheese: You can substitute cheddar cheese with things like pepper jack, Mexican blend, Monterey Jack, and more.
- Warm: This dip can be served warm. Spread the dip in a baking dish and place in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 15 minutes.
How long can you leave out this party dip?
Since the dip is made with perishable ingredients, it should not sit out at room temperature for more than 2-3 hours. If this dip is served already chilled, 3 hours would be the maximum time.
Heather’s recipe tips
- Make sure to let the cream cheese soften before mixing. I usually set it out on the counter 30 minutes before making.
- I love using cooked, crumbled bacon or even turkey bacon. Bacon bits will also work if you are in a hurry.
- If this dip has been refrigerated, you might consider setting it out 20-30 minutes before serving so the cream cheese softens, making it easier to dip.
- The recipe can easily be doubled for a large crowd.
How to store leftovers
Keep any leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Make sure to give it a stir before serving.
This dip does not freeze well. The cream cheese doesn’t hold it’s consistency once it has thawed.

My family loves this!
This recipe is delicious! Making it for the second time in a month right now! Only thing i change is i left out the seasoning salt and add a can of the diced green chillis that you find in the taco supply section in the grocery store! I don’t like spice, but these add the perfect zing! 10/10 recommend.
Can you freeze this dip and then thaw it out?
It’s not great after it’s frozen because the cream cheese gets a little weird and watery.
I made this exactly as written. Next time I’ll just use half of the ranch mix. Otherwise it is delicious! Thank you!
Made this last night foe a porch party, it was a success!! Not the most healthy option you can offer, however as a treat…well worth the calories ps..I did add about 2 tablespoons of light mayo.. It just seemed to give it a creamer feel.
This is Sooo Good , our daughter Loves it & the older grandchildren !!! It’s definitely a winner in our home
Will this dip be good if I make it for a party I’m having in two days?
Yes, it should stay good for 2 days.
Made this recipe for the first time. Doubling the recipe made a lot – I packed 2-heaping-cups for a Thanksgiving gathering, and the rest was enough to enjoy with unexpected company and gradually throughout the week. Served it with carrots, celery, Terra veggie chips, Ritz crackers, and rosemary flatbread. It was a hit, especially with the boyfriend’s parents! Thank you – keeping this one in the books.
Amazing absolutely 💯 amazing so good with tomato Basil wheat thins muah chefs kiss.
What else could you serve it with besides chips!
You could serve it with crackers, cut up veggies like peppers and cucumbers, little toasts. I even like spreading it on a tortilla, roll it up and chill for an hour and then cut into pinwheels. Hope this helps 🙂
