We can all agree that fruit is delicious on it’s own, but this easy cream cheese fruit dip takes it to the next level, turning an ordinary fruit platter into a party!

This dip came together when I needed a quick and easy dish to bring to a brunch. I wanted something simple but delicious that would go well with a fruit tray I bought from the grocery store.

Now this dip has become a go-to for me, and I’m always asked to bring it to parties and holiday gatherings. It’s creamy, sweet, and always a hit with everyone who tries it.

Here are a few other dessert dips you might enjoy like this banana pudding dip or Oreo dip.

What you need

There are several different versions of this cream cheese dip, but I prefer the classic. Only three ingredients are needed to make this fruit dip with marshmallow cream.

  • Cream cheese – I like using the full fat cream cheese for the best texture and taste. You can use the 1/3 fat cream cheese if you prefer.
  • Marshmallow fluff – Marshmallow fluff, or marshmallow creme, can typically be found in the baking aisle by the marshmallows.
  • Vanilla extract – This is an optional ingredient but I like that it adds a little sweetness and warmth.

  2. Serve: That’s it! Place in a serving bowl and enjoy.

How to soften cream cheese

The best way to soften cream cheese is to leave it out on the counter for approximately 30 minutes. If you are like me and tend to forget this step, you can unwrap the cream cheese, place it in a bowl, and microwave for about 15 seconds.

How long does fruit dip last?

  • At a party: If you are serving this dip at a party, it will last about 2 hours at room temperature.
  • In the refrigerator: Store this dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freezer: This can be frozen in a freezer safe container for up to a month. Just know that the consistency won’t be quite the same once it’s thawed.

Tips for fruit dip with cream cheese

  • Soften the cream cheese. This is the most important tip. It helps the dip be smooth and creamy.
  • If you are making this dip ahead of time, be sure to let it sit out for about 30 minutes before serving. This will help it be easier to scoop.
  • Use a mixer. This helps with giving the dip a smooth, creamy consistency.

Fruit dip variations

This is my favorite way to make fruit dip but there are many different ways you can change it up. Here are a few to consider.

  • Strawberry fruit dip – You can simple substitute regular cream cheese with strawberry cream cheese.
  • Yogurt fruit dip – Mix in some Greek yogurt with vanilla pudding mix and Cool Whip.
  • Orange fruit dip – Add in about a tablespoon of orange dip to the mixture.

Best fruit for fruit trays

There are many different options when it comes to great dipping fruit. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Apples
  • Grapes
  • Cantaloupe
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blueberries
  • Pineapple
  • Pear slices
  • Oranges

I also like to include pretzels, graham crackers and cookies as dipping options.

I got tired of eating hot food on a hot day. So my son’s birthday I made this dip and it was a super success. Had to make extra to send home with them.
My granddaughter eats ton of fresh fruit. She loved this. I will be using this recipe always. Thank you

  2. I just use the whipped cream cheese, but you’ll have to use the 16 oz. container instead of 8 oz of the regular. I also add a handful of powdered sugar to sweeten it up a bit. Been making this for many years and it NEVER disappoints.

Hardest part about it is trying not to shove spoonfuls of it in your face after making it. Lol

I made this for my granddaughters birthday. It was super easy and very delicious! People were scraping the sides of the bowl! I’m making it again for my soon to be daughter in law’s bridal shower this weekend. The only thing I did different was add a couple of drops of red food color.

This is delicious! However, don’t do what I did and substitute melted marshmallows in place of fluff. As it cools, it turns into one big rubbery marshmallow. But boy is it delicious! I just re-heated it and it was good to go.

I have been making this marshmallow cream cheese dip for years! Everybody loves it. Fruit is so easy to do and no heating up the house.

  6. I’ve made this many times and love it! My favorite is Granny Smith apples for the tart/sweet combo. I even make a batch for myself as a snack, since it’s so easy and then it lasts a few days. I don’t include the vanilla though.
