If you are like me and love a good recipe mash-up, then this croffle recipe is sure to be a hit! A great blend of waffles and croissants, this is a fun recipe to change up your breakfast routine.

When I first made these for my kids they instantly loved them! They really enjoy the cinnamon sugar crust and like dipping them into syrup or even yogurt.

I have even served these as a dessert, using them as a base for strawberry shortcake.

What is a croffle?

Have you heard of croffles? They are essentially crescent rolls baked in a waffle iron, or a croissant waffle. The croffle became popular in Seoul, Korea. Traditionally the dough is coated with sugar but there are many ways to customize this breakfast treat.

Why this recipe works

  • Fast and easy. Using refrigerated crescent roll makes this so simple.
  • Texture. You get the best of both works with flakey crescents and golden waffles.
  • Customizable. There are so many ways to make these your own with toppings or stuffings.

Ingredients

  • Crescent rolls – I like using canned crescent rolls that can be found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. You can substitute with frozen croissant dough.
  • Granulated sugar – Used to cover the crescents.
  • Cinnamon – Ground cinnamon is combined with sugar for a delicious coating.
  • Butter – I like using unsalted butter to grease the waffle iron. You can substitute with non-stick cooking spray.

Variations

This recipe is simple to make your own. You can stuff your croffle or add different coatings.

  • Stuffed croffles: Try stuffing them with things like cream cheese, berries, or nutella. Simply spread on the crescent triangles and then roll. Cook as directed. Just be sure not to over stuff them.
  • Coating: You can substitute cinnamon with pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice, or just plain granulated sugar.

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Preheat. Don’t forget to preheat your waffle maker.
  • Grease the waffle maker. I like brushing the waffle iron with melted butter for extra flavor. You can substitute with vegetable oil or cooking spray.

Storage

Store: Leftover croffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will stay good for 3-4 days.

Reheat: Reheat the coffles in a toaster, an air fryer at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes or in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 10 minutes.

Freeze: These freeze well. Place them on a baking sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes to freeze. Place the frozen croffles in a freezer safe bag in the freezer for up 3 months.
