Bowl of hoagie dip with sliced bread.

This hoagie dip is one of those recipes that is almost gone before I even finish making it because my family starts eating it. It reminds me of this viral grinder salad but in dip form. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoy this dip and it’s one that I turn to when I don’t know what to bring to a gathering.

If you like a good Italian sub sandwich, then I can almost guarantee you will love this recipe. It’s packed with classic Italian sub flavors like salami, pepperoni, provolone, and tangy dressing.

I like serving this dip for all kinds of occasions like watching a game, potlucks, parties, or just to have at home for a fun snack. It’s one of those recipes thats nice to have in your back pocket.

If you want more hearty dips try the BLT dip, bacon spinach artichoke dip, and jalapeno popper dip.

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Add the lettuce last. I recommend not stirring in the lettuce until you will be serving the dip. This helps to keep it nice and crisp.
  • Let the dip chill. I recommend letting the dip chill in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving. This lets all of the flavors come together.

Variations

This recipe is easy to make your own with a few different variations. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Meat: You can use your favorite deli meat like ham, capicola, turkey, or others.
  • Cheese: Mozzarella, American cheese, Monterey Jack, and Colby Jack can be used instead of provolone.
  • Vegetables: Feel free to leave out the tomatoes. You can also add other veggies like bell peppers or olives.
