This lemon pepper sauce is the perfect dipping sauce for things like chicken wings, chicken tenders, seafood and more.

Why this sauce recipe works

Easy – This recipe requires just a few ingredients that you probably already have at home and can be made in about 5 minutes.

Flavor – Want to add flavor to your meal, drizzle this or use it as a sauce to add fresh, zesty flavor.

Ingredients needed

  • Butter – I like using unsalted butter to control the sodium. You can substitute with salted butter, just omit the salt in the recipe.
  • Fresh lemon juice – Fresh lemon juice is best. It will add a bright, tangy flavor.
  • Fresh lemon zest – The lemon zest
  • Garlic powder – The amount of garlic powder can be adjusted to your taste.
  • Ground black pepper – I recommend using fresh ground black pepper to add a little spiciness.
  • Salt – Just a pinch of salt is just to balance the flavors.

How to make lemon pepper sauce

Step one: Place butter into a small saucepan over medium heat.

Butter in a saucepan.

Step two: Once the butter has melted, whisk in lemon juice, zest, garlic powder, pepper, and salt.

Sauce pan with melted butter, lemon zest, and black pepper.

Step three: Remove the pan from heat and serve.

How to store

Store: Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last for up to 1 week.

Reheat: Since the base of the sauce is butter, it will solidify once it’s stored in the refrigerator. Just reheat in a saucepan on the stove or in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.

Recipe tips

  • You can adjust each of the ingredients to your taste. If you prefer a more garlic flavor, add a little extra garlic powder or substitute with 1 teaspoon of fresh minced garlic.
  • Like a spicier sauce? Add a little extra ground black pepper or a splash of hot sauce.
