Halloween, oh how I love thee. I don’t know what it is specifically, maybe it’s the candy, or the influx of pumpkins, or just all the fun activities that surround the holiday. Whatever it is, I have passed the love on to my kids. Major’s birthday is mid-October so he sees the holiday as an extension of his birthday celebration. At the our house we have already been busy crafting and testing out new candy and it’s not even October! My friends think it’s just a little crazy that my decorations are already out and the kids have their costumes.
When we were at Target picking out costumes I couldn’t miss stopping by the seasonal Halloween section of the store. We found these fun M&M’S Boo-tterscotch and DOVE Milk Chocolate Ghosts that are exclusive to Target on the end of the aisle and of course I couldn’t resist bringing a few bags home. I am a sucker for anything Boo-tterscotch and how adorable are those chocolate ghost wrappers?!? 🙂
After seeing the DOVE Milk Chocolate Ghosts at Target, I thought it would be fun to use the ghost theme and make ghost candy jars for a few of my neighbors. It is something they can use for decoration during the Halloween season and the best part is the jar is filled with yummy candy. I wish someone would bring me a gift like that!
SUPPLIES
For this ghost mason jar candy gift you need:
- glass jar
- white and black acrylic craft paint
- black pen
- foam paint brush
- fine tip paint brush
- fabric squares (approximately 5 inch squares)
- ribbon
- M&M’S Boo-tterscotch and DOVE Milk Chocolate Ghosts
1.) Begin with painting your jar using a foam brush with white craft paint. I did one coat and let dry over night and then did one more coat and let dry completely. It is important to let the paint dry completely so that it does not come off the jar.
2.) Once the white paint is dried, use a pen and draw an outline of eyes and a mouth for the ghost. Fill in with the black craft paint and fine tip paint brush. Let paint dry.
3.) Once the jars are completely dry, fill with candy. I did a mixture of M&M’S Boo-tterscotch and DOVE Milk Chocolate Ghosts.
4.) Place a fabric square on top of the jar and then screw the jar lid over the fabric. Tie the ribbon around the lid and you have a great Halloween gift.
