Ingredients needed for pineapple angel food cake
It’s hard to believe you only need 2 simple ingredients to make this cake.
- Boxed angel food cake mix – It’s important to buy the mix that only requires water.
- Crushed pineapple – You will need a 20 ounce can of crushed pineapple.
- Optional – Cool Whip or whipped cream for the cake topping.
Ingredient Tip
Do not drain the pineapple juice from the can. The pineapple juice is what replaces the water that is called for on the angel food cake mix box.

Heather’s recipe tips
This is a simple cake recipe but there are a few things to keep in mind when preparing the cake.
- No need to spray the cake baking dish. Pour the batter into an ungreased cake dish. The cake won’t rise if you grease the pan.
- Don’t let the batter sit long. This cake batter will start to rise so as soon as it’s mixed, spread out into the cake dish and then bake.
- Be sure not to over mix the cake batter.
- Use a serrated knife or bread knife to cut the cake.
- Feel free to add extra toppings like shredded coconut, sprinkles, pineapple tidbits, or even maraschino cherries.
How to store leftover angel food cake
Cover the cake and keep it in the refrigerator. It will last about 3 days.
Yes, you can use a 10-inch angel food cake tube or bundt pan for this recipe. You will need to increase the baking time to 40 minutes.
I would only suggest using crushed pineapple packed in juice for this recipe.
