One of my kids favorite dinners has to be this pizza cupcakes recipe. They are a fun, bite-sized meal that can be made in under 30 minutes.

I admit, I like fast food every now and again. One of my new favorite things are the Little Caesar’s pizza puffs, so of course I needed to try and make something similar at home.
After testing this recipe with different dough like pizza dough and biscuits, in my opinion, crescent roll dough tasted the best, although they were all good. The crescent roll dough have these pizza cupcakes a light, delicious texture that paired perfect for pizza toppings.

- Crescent roll dough – I like using refrigerated canned crescent roll dough. You can also use pizza dough.
- Pizza sauce – Use your favorite pizza sauce or marinara sauce.
- Mozzarella cheese – If you can use freshly shredded I think it tastes the best, but prepackaged shredded cheese also works.
- Toppings – I am using pepperoni but you can use your favorite toppings.
- Seasonings – Garlic powder, Italian seasoning. You could also use this homemade pizza seasoning.
How to make pizza cupcakes with pizza dough

Step one: Separate the crescent roll dough into 8 pieces. Spray a cupcake tin with non-stick cooking spray. Press each piece of dough into the cups to form a crust.

Step two: Sprinkle the dough with a little garlic powder. Top the dough with a little bit of shredded cheese.

Step three: Top each pizza cupcake with a tablespoon of pizza sauce.

Step four: Top with more cheese, Italian seasoning, and topping. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes.

- Grease the muffin tin. Don’t forget to grease the muffin tin. You can use non-stick cooking spray or even garlic butter for extra flavor.
- Don’t use too much sauce. Be careful not to use too much pizza sauce so that the pizza cupcakes don’t get too soggy.
- Let them rest. Let the pizza cupcakes rest in the muffin tin a few minutes before removing them from the tin.

These pizza cupcakes can be easily customized. If you are serving these for a party, I like making several different kinds for a nice variety.
- Crust – I am using crescent roll dough but you can substitute with refrigerated pizza dough or even refrigerated biscuit dough.
- Sauce – To make traditional pizza cupcakes a pizza sauce or tomato sauce works well. You can change it up with BBQ sauce for a BBQ chicken cupcake, or an alfredo sauce.
- Cheese – Try using different cheeses like Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, Pepper Jack, or provolone cheese.

Store: If you have any leftovers, store the mini pizzas in an air tight container for up to 5 days.
Freeze: You can also freeze these pizza muffins. Place them on a baking sheet in the freezer to let them freeze. Place the frozen pizzas in a freezer safe bag or container for up to 3 months.

Ingredients
- 1 8 ounce refrigerated crescent dough
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 30-40 mini pepperoni or your favorite toppings
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Prepare the cupcake tin by spraying 8 cupcake cups with non-stick cooking spray.
- Separate the crescent dough into 8 triangles. Form each triangle into flat dough and press into each cupcake cup forming a crust.
- Sprinkle each dough with garlic powder. Add a little mozzarella cheese into each cup.

- Sprinkle each pizza cup with Italian seasoning. Top with pepperonis or favorite toppings.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Carefully remove from the baking tin and serve warm.
