  • Onion – Diced white onion. Make sure to dice small.

Step one: Add tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, ground mustard, salt, and pepper into a bowl.

Step two: Whisk to completely combine.

Step three: To make the meat, place ground beef in a large skillet. Break it up while cooking over medium heat. Once it starts to brown, drain off any excess grease and stir in diced onion and diced bell pepper. Stir another 2-3 minutes and then pour in the sloppy joe sauce.

Step four: Simmer the sauce for at least 5-10 minutes before serving.

How long to simmer sloppy joe sauce?

The amount of time you simmer sloppy joe sauce depends on your taste preference. I recommend simmering on low heat for at least 5-10 minutes before serving. If you really would like to develop the flavors, simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Sloppy Joe Sauce

  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper

Instructions
