Step four: Check to make sure they are fork tender. Serve the ribs warm and use additional barbecue sauce as needed.

Recipe tips

  • If you like a smoky flavor, stir in a 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke with the BBQ sauce.
  • Want a crispier BBQ crust? Once the ribs have cooked, place them on a foil lined baking sheet, brush with more barbecue sauce, and broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes.

How to store leftover country style ribs

Store: Store any leftovers in an airtight container or they can be wrapped in foil. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Freeze: These ribs can also be frozen. Keep in a freezer bag or container for up to 3 months.

What to serve with BBQ ribs

There are so many wonderful things to serve with your ribs. Check out this whole list of BBQ sides. Here are some favorite side dishes:

How long do country ribs take in the crockpot?

They can be cooked on high for 6-7 hours or on low temperature for 8 hours to fully cook and be tender.

Should ribs be submerged in the slow cooker?

These country-style ribs do not need to be submerged.

What cut of meat is country style ribs?

Believe it or not, country-style ribs aren’t ribs. This meat comes from the pork shoulder area of the pig. They are called ribs because they resemble traditional ribs in texture and flavor.

Does cooking country ribs longer make them more tender?

I recommend slow cooking on low heat for 8 hours for the most tender meat. The longer you cook them, the more tender they will be. If they are still a little tough after 8 hours, cook them a little longer.

Wow! My son loves ribs and has had them in many restaurants but he described these as “the best ribs of my life” ! So tasty! I thought I would share his thoughts.

Excellent, easy as pie recipe seasoned to perfection with your rub. Very happy with results and saved recipe for frequent use. Thank you ! ❤️

  3. I have a question. If I use a smaller amount of meat should I cut down the cooking time accordingly?

    1. You can. I think I would still let it cook the same time though unless it is a significantly smaller amount.

  4. The volume of dry rub shown in the video looks to be much less than I had following the recipe. I’m wondering if the measurements should have been teaspoons rather than tablesppons?

    1. i feel like adding more is better.. the Tbsp does let off plenty of seasoning and its well needed, its delicious..my ribs are coated to the max… I use the TBSP and the more meat I have I double the seasoning except the salt.. my kids go crazy with these ribs…

    2. I’m making this right now. I used a liner for my croc pot. But still sprayed it. My 3 pounds of meat was much more then in video. And as someone else said I had a lot more rub then in the video. But I coated mine in mustard as a binder. And then hand rubbed the seasoning on each one. I’ll let u know how it turns out.

  5. I CAN’T TELL U HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE MADE THIS IT IS SO AMAZING ONE OF MY FAMILY FAVORITE MEALS THANK YOU FOR THIS DELICIOUS RECIPE

  6. Wondering if I should put some liquid in the bottom of the crockpot. Made this and while the flavor was good, the bottom and parts of the top and sides were burned and inedible.
