I have been making this easy veggie dip recipe since I was a teenager. I serve it at all our holiday meals, parties, and love having it around for snacking. Pesto is the star ingredient in this flavorful 5 minute dip that even has my kids wanting to eat their veggies. I can’t wait to share the recipe with you!
When I need something simple to make for a party or just an afternoon snack when the kids get home, a veggie tray is always at the top of my list. You can’t go wrong with colorful, crisp veggies and a delicious dip.
This is a recipe my mom taught me to make when I was young and helping her in the kitchen. It’s seriously so simple to put together, you really can’t mess it up.

- Pesto – I like using a store bought basil pesto to make it easy but you can also use homemade pesto.
- Lemon juice – Adds a brightness to the dip and balances out the pesto.
- Salt and pepper – A little extra seasoning. You can adjust to taste.
How to make veggie dip
Step one: Place mayonnaise, sour cream, pesto, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Step two: Mix the ingredients together until well combined. Serve or cover and store in the refrigerator until ready to eat.

- Salad dressing: Want to use this as a salad dressing? You can thin in out with a splash of milk or buttermilk.
Veggie dip variations
You can add extra flavor with some of these additions. Here are a few suggestions:
Add-ins: Bacon bits, diced red peppers, chopped olives, or chopped sun-dried tomatoes.
Cheese: Crumbled feta cheese, blue cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, or grated parmesan cheese.
Base: You can substitute the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt. You can also use full-fat or low-fat mayonnaise and sour cream.
How to store
Store: Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. This dip does not freeze well.
