My copycat Wingstop ranch recipe is creamy and full of bold flavor. You can stir together this dressing in less than 5 minutes, making it a perfect go-to dipping sauce. It’s one of my favorite sauces to serve with just about anything and with my recipe, you are guaranteed to get authentic Wingstop flavor.

Homemade Wingstop Ranch

Every time I go to Wingstop I make sure to get some of their ranch dressing. It’s so creamy and is the perfect thing to dip my wings into.

I came up with this recipe when I didn’t feel like making a trip out to the restaurant. Why go out when I can make my own Wingstop meal at home with wings, fries, Louisiana rub, and this ranch.

After some trial and error, I came up with this copycat recipe that will have you feeling like you are eating ranch straight from the restaurant.

If you enjoy ranch be sure to check out these recipes for homemade BBQ ranch, blackened ranch, buffalo ranch, and avocado ranch.

Why you will love this recipe

There is something so delicious about fresh, homemade ranch. A few reasons I love this recipe include:

  • Easy – Super simple to make with just a few ingredients you might already have at home.
  • Customizable – Adjust the ingredients to your taste preference.
  • Flavor – This ranch adds so much amazing flavor to things like wings, chicken tenders, or vegetables.

Ingredients

This easy recipe is made of just three main ingredients. You can add a little touch of black pepper for some extra flavor.

  • Ranch seasoning packets – I like using Hidden Valley Ranch mix to give you that Wingstop flavor. You could also use homemade ranch seasoning.
  • Mayonnaise – Since this is a prominent ingredient, I prefer using full fat, good quality mayonnaise for a rich, creamy flavor. I recommend Duke’s Mayonnaise for the best result. You can substitute reduced fat mayonnaise, vegan or dairy-free if necessary.
  • Buttermilk – Adds a little tang and creaminess to the ranch.
  • Ground black pepper – Optional for a little extra seasoning.

How to make Wingstop ranch dressing

If you would like more of a visual step-by-step, be sure to check out the video below.

  1. Add mayonnaise, buttermilk, black pepper, and ranch seasoning packets in a bowl.
  2. Stir together with a whisk or spatula until well combined and creamy.
  3. Serve or store covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Variations and substitutions

Like many recipes, there are ways to put your own spin on the dish. This is a very forgiving recipe so feel free to make changes if needed. Here are a few substitutions:

Milk – You can substitute the buttermilk with milk.

Sour cream – You can substitute the mayonnaise with sour cream or yogurt.

Homemade ranch seasoning – If you would prefer to use a homemade ranch seasoning, mix together:

  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Vegan – You can substitute the mayonnaise and buttermilk with vegan versions.

You could also adjust some of the ingredients to make different versions of ranch like:

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Don’t have buttermilk? No problem! Combine 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Whisk together and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  • If you would like to thicken the dip, add a little extra mayonnaise, if you would like it thinner, add extra buttermilk.
  • I would recommend letting the dip sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before eating. The flavors will really start to come together making it even more tasty.
  • Making this for a party? You can easily double or even triple the recipe to accommodate a large group of people.

How to store

Make sure to keep this in an airtight container in the refrigerator when you are not using it. This homemade ranch will last for about a week in the refrigerator. I would not recommend freezing it because mayonnaise does not do well in the freezer.

How to serve Wingstop ranch dressing

This addictive condiment can be used for so many different things. Of course it’s great to serve with a big batch of buffalo wings but we also use it to dip things like:

If you would like to use this as a salad dressing, I would recommend adding a little extra buttermilk to make it more pourable.

Let me just say this sauce ISN’T bad to me it tastes just like normal ranch it’s good I like it. Is it wing stop ranch as the title suggests? NO! Not at all not in flavor whatsoever. If you’re looking for a wintstop ranch this is not it and you need to keep looking however if you want a good ranch that’s homemade it’s pretty good. The title is deceiving though.
