French Onion Soup Rice

This French onion soup rice recipe is creamy, flavorful, and so delicious. French onion soup rice is a tasty side dish that is made with just a few ingredients. Sometimes called stick of butter rice, this recipe is a must try!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
  • 1 10 ounch can French onion soup
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, sliced into 12 slices

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spray an 8 x 8 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Stir together the beef broth and onion soup mix.
  • Spread the rice in the baking dish. Pour in the beef broth mixture and the French onion soup. Gently stir.
  • Top the rice with the sliced butter. Cover the baking dish with foil. Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Uncover the baking dish. Bake another 30 minutes.

Notes

  • Cover the rice with liquid. Be sure to cover the rice with the liquid. This will help cook the rice perfectly.
  • Cover the rice with foil. You will want to cover the baking dish tightly with foil for the first 30 minutes of cooking. This helps to actually cook the rice.
  • Feeding a crowd. You can double the ingredients and bake in a 9 x 13 if you are serving a crowd.
