Homemade Hamburger Helper Stroganoff

- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 8 oz mushrooms cleaned and sliced
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- fresh parsley optional
- egg noodles optional
If making pasta, start a pot of boiling water and cook pasta according to package directions.
Place ground beef in a large skillet. Start to cook over medium heat. Halfway through cooking add in diced onion, sliced mushrooms, and garlic. Cook until not pink. Drain off excess grease and season with salt and pepper and add worcestershire sauce.
Place the beef mixture on a plate or bowl and set aside. Add butter to the skillet over medium heat. Whisk in flour. Slowly pour in beef broth while still stirring. Keep stirring until the mixture starts to thicken up and comes to a slow boil.
Stir in sour cream and cream of mushroom soup. Add the ground beef mixture into the sauce and stir to combine.
Serve the stroganoff warm over pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, and more.
