Chocolate Simple Syrup
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Soda
- 2 cups club soda
- ½ cup 1/2 and 1/2
- ½ cup chocolate simple syrup
- ice
- whipped cream optional
Chocolate Simple Syrup
Place the cocoa powder, sugar, water, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Stir to combine ingredients and let it heat until it just starts to bubble and sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the mixture cool and then store in the refrigerator until it chills.
Soda
Fill 4 glasses with ice. Pour 3 tablespoons of chocolate simple syrup into each glass.
Pour in 3 tablespoons of half and half in each glass and then top with club soda.
Give the drink a gentle stir. Optional, top with whipped cream and serve.
- You can easily adjust the amount of simple syrup and half and half to your taste.
- Try garnishing with a maraschino cherry or chocolate shavings on top.
