Ingredients

  • 1 8 ounce can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 30 slices pepperoni slices
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll the crescent roll dough out on the prepared baking sheet. Pinch together the seams of the triangles to make one flat dough.
  • Spread the pizza sauce over the dough. Sprinkle 1/8 teaspoon of Italian seasoning over the sauce.
  • Place the pepperoni slices on top of the sauce. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the pepperoni.
  • Carefully roll up the dough as tight as possible. Wrap in the parchment paper and place in the freezer for about an hour.
  • Slice the into slices. Place the pinwheels on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  • Stir garlic powder and remaining Italian seasoning in the melted butter. Brush the butter on top of each pinwheel.
  • Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until they start turn golden brown.
  • Serve the pinwheels with a side of marinara for dipping.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese. I recommend shredding your own cheese for the best taste. You can use pre-shredded cheese if that's what you have on hand.
  • Roll tightly. Roll the dough as tightly as possible. You can use the parchment paper to help roll it over.
  • Chill before slicing. Since the dough is so soft, I recommend freezing the rolled pinwheel before slicing. This helps them stay together.
