Slumgullion Recipe
This easy slumgullion recipe, or American goulash recipe, can be made with just a few simple ingredients. I delicious, hearty dinner that the whole family will enjoy. This slumgullion is made with ground beef and elbow macaroni.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 15 ounce can petite diced tomatoes (the whole can)
- 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cups elbow macaroni noodles
Brown the ground beef in a large, deep skillet or a Dutch oven over medium heat. Make sure to break up the ground beef while cooking. Cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir in the diced onion and garlic. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Pour in beef broth, can of petite dice tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
Bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir in the uncooked macaroni noodles. Cover the skillet or pot with a lid and simmer for 10 minutes or until the noodles are cooked. Turn off the heat. Serve warm.
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey, ground chicken, or ground bison.
- Give this recipe a spicy flavor and try substituting petite diced tomatoes with a can of Rotel tomatoes.
- Want to add some extra vegetables, add in diced green peppers or red peppers with the onion.
- If your slumgullion is too thick, you can add a splash of beef broth to achieve the consistency you desire.
