- 8 slices bacon, chopped
- 4 14.5 ounce cans green beans
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 tablespoon Montreal seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
Chop the bacon into small pieces and cook in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the bacon has browned, pour the bacon pieces on a paper towel lined plate and set aside.
Add the diced onion and butter into the pan and stir for 4-5 minutes or until the onion starts to become translucent.
Stir in the garlic. Cook for 1 minute. Mix in broth, sugar, salt, Montreal seasoning, and green beans.
Cover the skillet with a lid and simmer the beans on medium-low heat for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
- Beans: Don't forget to drain off all of the liquid in the cans of green beans before simmering.
- Butter: If you would like to make this dairy-free, you can leave out the butter completely.
- Store: You can keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a large pan or pot on the stove.
